  1. Get involved

Join the cardinal crazies, be involved with sports, join a club, this is a great way to meet new people.

  1. Take gym and health

Go ahead and take gym & health as a freshman– it’s filled with lots of freshman so you will know people you’re in class with! Take it early so you don’t have to worry about it later on.

  1. You’ll never be the smartest

You’ll never meet everyone’s expectations, but you can always try your hardest and be the best you can be, no matter what anyone says.

  1. Finals aren’t as bad as you think

Finals will be hard but try your best and study for them, it’s not as bad as you think. Don’t overthink, trust your gut.

  1. Don’t worry about what everyone thinks of you

You are the fresh meat of the school, don’t worry what people think. They honestly don’t know if you are a freshman or not.

  1. Your grades do matter

It’s easy to think that college is so far away and that your freshman grades don’t really matter, but colleges look all the way back to your freshman year. The better grades you have, the more money you will get for college. Trust me it’ll pay off in the long run.

  1. Choose your friends wisely

Friends come and go, so don’t worry if you lose a one. Don’t be too upset about it because it’s not worth ruining your high school experience. Stick with people who build you up, and you’ll be good to go.

  1. Don’t be too eager to grow up

High school will fly by in a blink of an eye, so don’t wish it away because when it’s gone, you’ll never be able to get it back. It’s an important time in your life, so cherish it while you can and have fun while you’re young.

  1. Some things that seem important now won’t seem important later

No one will remember that fight you and your friend had, no one will remember how you spent hours getting ready on picture day, and no one will remember the people you dated in high school. So don’t stress over things that aren’t important.

  1. It only gets harder

Freshman year might seem hard but it only gets harder so keep pushing through and form good habits now. You will be thankful you did later on in the long run.
